Henley On Thames

  • WHAT IS IT? A beautiful and historic 12th Century town on the banks of the River Thames.
  • HOW FAR IS IT? Henley-on-Thames is approximately 7 miles West from Maidenhead and a short drive from the Thames Riviera Hotel.

WHAT’S THERE FOR CHILDREN?

Little ones will love to meander down to the bridge from the high street. By crossing the river and then turning left past the Leander club you can take the kids for a pretty walk by the river which is actually the regatta course.

If you don’t cross the bridge – and turn right instead of left, this will lead you to an area called Mill Meadows which has play areas and a lovely adventure playground. Perfect for running off steam! After this, a return to the high street for a delicious ice cream will be temptation enough to get those little legs on the move again.

WHAT’S THERE FOR ADULTS

Henley-on-Thames is bursting with choice when it comes to sightseeing, shopping or even pampering!

The Kubu spa is known to do some incredible treatments and massages while canoe hire or a drive to the Lovibonds brewery will keep the more active day tripper satisfied! The Chiltern Valley Winery and Brewery is also definitely worth a visit and comes highly recommended on Trip Advisor.

Built in 1786, the five arched Henley Bridge is very interesting as is St. Mary’s church which boasts its own 16th century tower! The Henley Royal Regatta is an incredible event and heralded as the best regatta anyway in the world – a real gem for any summer time visitor to Henley-on-Thames.

Dating back to 1983, The Henley Festival is really something to behold and is often held around July time. This festival attracts a huge crowd of revellers who return year after year to soak up the unique and enchanting atmosphere.

There is something for the whole family to enjoy here and some great food and drink to be enjoyed!
